GE's Bulbs for Earth Day

GE , long a marketing powerhouse, has hatched a clever idea to celebrate Earth Day this year.
The company's GE Lighting unit is encouraging consumers to participate in its Project Plant-a-Bulb initiative. For every person who watches the GE Plant-a-Bulb video online during the month of April, GE Lighting will plant a flower bulb, up to 200,000.

The purpose of the initiative is to educate people about their impact on the environment. "Individuals may not know the level of influence they have on the ecosystem, and that even the smallest changes can yield results," GE Lighting Guy Brice Cooper says. "At the end of the day, we're all accountable for the world we live in. GE Project Plant-a-Bulb gives us all a chance to be involved."

What do you think? Is this an authentic, worthy initiative? Or just a play for Earth Day publicity?
