In July of 1977, Linda Kelliher walked into the Burlington, Vermont advertising scene with unshakable determination and a portfolio that was ahead of its time. Her creativity, drive, and pioneering spirit would go on to shape not only her own career but also an entire industry.

When Linda was told by an agency owner, “I can never sell this kind of work,” she didn’t flinch. Instead, she opened her own design firm, Image, in a small space above Bennington Potters North. It was a humble start that coincided with the opening of the first Ben & Jerry’s scoop shop downstairs. In that buzzing atmosphere, surrounded by entrepreneurial energy, Linda began carving her path.

A Visionary Leader and Collaborator

Her journey truly blossomed when she partnered with her future husband, Yoram Samets. Together, they founded Blue & Company, housing both Image and Adventure in Living, an interior commercial design business. They built their business on two fundamental principles: fostering an environment that attracted talented individuals and creating extraordinary work.

This commitment led to the evolution of Image into Kelliher Samets Volk (KSV), an agency that thrived on a deep understanding of its clients’ customers. Linda was instrumental to innovating a new approach to communication in the sustainability sector. Her ability to distill intricate ideas into impactful messaging set a benchmark for the industry and positioned KSV as a leader in energy and sustainability marketing.

One of Linda’s most tangible contributions to the agency was discovering and transforming 212 Battery Street into KSV’s iconic headquarters. This historic waterfront building was turned into a vibrant creative hub, reflecting Linda’s vision for a space that inspired collaboration, innovation, and community.

A Legacy of Resilience and Reinvention

The story of KSV is one of resilience. Whether it was recovering from a client loss, rebranding, or navigating the rapidly changing advertising landscape, Linda’s ability to adapt and think strategically propelled the agency forward. Under her leadership, KSV expanded into new markets, opened offices in Boston and Montreal, and developed a reputation for excellence across diverse industries, from outdoor recreation to financial services and sustainability.

One of Linda’s most impactful decisions was to pivot KSV toward a specialization in sustainable energy—a move rooted in her belief that business has the power to make the world a better place. This vision not only solidified the agency’s future but also aligned its purpose with the pressing needs of the planet.

She was also known for her ability to maintain perspective, even in the most stressful moments. In the high-pressure world of advertising, Linda often reminded her team, “This is advertising; no one is dying on the table.” Her wisdom and humor helped her colleagues navigate challenges with clarity and calm, fostering a culture of balance and focus.

A Legacy Beyond Business

Linda was not just a business leader but a creator of community. She and Yoram built KSV to be more than just a workplace; it became a home for creative talent, a hub of collaboration, and a beacon of innovation. Her work extended beyond clients to community nonprofits, environmental causes, and initiatives that made a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Her legacy is reflected in the enduring spirit of KSV, a company that continues to thrive as a certified B Corp, driven by its commitment to people, planet, and prosperity. It is also evident in the countless lives she touched with her mentorship, generosity, and unwavering belief in the power of creativity to inspire change.

A Life Well Lived

Linda’s journey from a young designer with a bold vision to the co-founder of an agency that has stood the test of time is a testament to her courage, ingenuity, and relentless drive. She kicked the dust off her boots and walked into every room ready to take on the world. In doing so, she left it brighter, better, and more full of possibility.LindaKelliher_1440x1440_Linda_1
